Bail bond set at $350,000 for Pass Christian man

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County deputies were assisting Hancock County in serving three warrants against Kenneth Wayne Beech, Jr. at a home on Edwin Ladner Rd. on Thursday, but deputies were met with gunfire.

"The individual ran out the back of the house and was armed with a hand gun. They gave pursuit, he started firing at them. They returned fire there, behind the house, and he ran into the wooded area in the back," said Harrison County Chief Deputy Ron Pullen.

Law enforcement quickly called for back-up, and set up a perimeter around the woods where Beech, 30, fled.

"We heard gunshots, and I told my brother, I said 'Hey, there's somebody hunting back here,' and we kept listening and heard about three more shots. Then all of a sudden, a cop come driving up and I told em where the gunshots came from," said Steven Ladner.

Ladner says the shooting and pursuit happened in the woods right behind his home off N. Ladner Rd.

"I knew somebody was close because we can tell how far the shots are away just by target practicing and all that," added Ladner.

A police K9 that eventually brought down the armed suspect around 5:30 p.m.

Beech, of Pass Christian, is charged with seven felony counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. His bond was set at $350,000 for those charges.
Beech is also being held without bond for felony warrants out of Hancock County and with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
