Man, 65, nearly beaten to death by 22 tear old

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A 65-year-old Gulfport man is fighting for his life after he was badly beaten nearly a week ago. Biloxi police said the man is listed in critical but stable condition.
Sgt. O’Neil Adams said police started investigating the case after they were called to a local hospital for an assault complaint on May 22.
Hospital staff said a Hispanic man had been dropped off at the hospital with life threatening injuries. Adams said investigators discovered the man had been beaten on Crescent St. the day before.
After the reported beating, the man’s family took him home, but when his condition did not improve overnight, they took him to the hospital.
Remerious Deundra Barnes, of Gulfport, was accused of beating the man, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on May 22. Barnes, 22, was arrested Friday by U.S. Marshals.
Adams said Barnes and the man he is accused of nearly beating to death knew each other, but investigators do not know what sparked the violence.
Barnes is being held at the Harrison County jail without bond, because he was out on bond for an armed robbery charge in Hattiesburg.
