A yearlong investigation by Vicksburg police and the Mississippi
Bureau of Narcotic led to 18 arrests Friday morning in a police
operation dubbed “Operation Long Time Coming.”
The majority of the 18 suspects are considered to be mid-to
upper-level drug dealers, Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said.
“We’re anticipating at least three more arrests,” Armstrong said.
Most of the suspects involved in the investigation are believed to be
members of the same drug organization, Armstrong said. They are accused
of crimes involving sale of crack cocaine, marijuana and
methamphetamine, he said.
Arrested in the early morning raid that encompassed neighborhoods across Vicksburg were:
• Andrew Allen
• Tennesha Burns
• Brandon Carr
• Purell Evans
• Xavier Floyd
• Derrick “DT Thomas
• James “Blue” Jones
• Antonia “Mane-Mane” Thomas
• Demetrice Harris
• Kimberly Harris
• Myron Henderson
• Vick Hudson
• Jeremiah H. Ross
• Kourtney Wallace
• Keith Walker
• Tony Walsh
• Jamaal Williams
• Keith Wilson
All 18 were taken to the Warren County Jail, Sheriff Martin Pace
said. Charges will be released once each suspect had completed the
booking process.
VPD, MBN, the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, The Drug Enforcement
Administration and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office began the raid at
about 4 a.m. Friday arresting suspects accused of selling crack
cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine, Armstrong said
Armstrong said the suspects would all appear Tuesday in Warren County Justice Court.

Gulfport police chief fed up with subculture of violence: Change, leave Gulfport or go to prison
GULFPORT -- Weekend killings moved the Gulfport police chief
to frustration Monday, leading to sharp words for the city's "criminal
subculture" and those who see criminal activity and don't report it.
To criminals, Chief Leonard Papania said, "We will be relentless
in our pursuit to identify you and arrest you. So you can either change, you
can leave or you can go to prison."
To others, he said, "Do not wait until something tragic happens. When you are aware of smaller crimes indicative of the criminal subculture, you must act. Do not wait for violence."
"There are those turning a blind eye and even defending the criminal lifestyles that are leading up to violent crime."
Papania said he is "sick and tired of this 'no snitch' and 'don't work with police'" attitude.
